Pharmacists Planning Service, Inc. (PPSI)
PPSI has spearheaded the success in bringing pharmacists into lead roles in many nationwide public health campaigns. Our successes include the creation of the Great American Smoke Out, National Condom Week, Safety Caps on Prescription Vials and many other national public health campaigns. Our next initiatives will focus on the important issues of Medical Cannabis, Birth-Control, Hepatitis C and the necessary role to be played by Pharmacists.
Front-line healthcare providers and public health professionals play an essential role in alerting and educating consumers on cannabis use and on drug interactions that may occur with cannabis and CBD usage.
CannabisRxInfo.org has been developed by the American College of Apothecaries Research and Education Foundation and Pharmacists Planning Services, Inc. to inform the public health community on the safety and efficacy of cannabis and CBD products and on key considerations surrounding the role of the healthcare professional when speaking with patients who use cannabis.
National Pharmacy Non-Profits Announce Partnership
for Public Health Education
The American College of Apothecaries Research & Education Foundation (ACA Foundation) announced a partnership with the Pharmacists Planning Service, Inc. (PPSI), a California-based non-profit corporation in a move designed to expand the reach of PPSI’s education and patient directed advocacy efforts to a nationwide audience.
Paul W. Lofholm, PharmD, FACA, who currently sits on the boards of both the ACA Foundation and PPSI, is optimistic about the benefits this arrangement will provide. “Combining the resources of these two organizations will streamline the administrative processes and strengthen our commitment to supporting pharmacists in providing services designed to improve community health. Under the leadership of its founder Fred Mayer, PPSI has organized or been involved in many continuing education events and campaigns to promote health care awareness and improve public health. We believe that this partnership between PPSI and the ACA Foundation ensures that these valuable programs will serve the public for many years to come.”
Under the arrangement, the ACA Foundation and PPSI will work together to co-present selected public health educational initiatives to pharmacists, other health care professionals, and members of the public.
